Seizure Scare!

Monday night we all had a big scare!  We were at a family gathering at Troy and Josie's house and Carson had not been feeling well all day.  He had a temperature throughout the day and we were giving him medicine to keep it down.  We had just given him both Tylenol and Motrin at 9pm because he was burning up.  I was put his pajamas on him and got him ready for bed.  Then I was just cuddling with him on my lap and all of the sudden, he started having a seizure!  He started shaking so hard in my arms and was having trouble breathing.  His lips started turning purple...it was so SCARY!  I tried to stay calm, yelled for Sean, and he ran over to help me lay him on the ground.  We called 911 and the paramedics and firemen came within minutes.  I rode with Carson in the ambulance and he pretty much just slept at the hospital.  They did a urine sample, blood sample, anal tempurature and just monitored him for a few hours.  They determined that he had what was called a febrile seizure, a seizure brought on by a fever.  I guess they can be common in kids ages 9 months to 5 years.  I had never heard of that before!  He was released from the hospital at about 3:30am and woke up the next morning as happy and normal as can be.  This was the picture I took of him right when he woke up...



We really hope he doesn't have another one as he grows older...one was scary enough!  We'll just have to keep Tylenol and Motrin with us should another fever come on.  Now I'm going to be so scared anytime he gets sick with a fever in the future.  Just glad he is healthy and going to be alright!
